Hi, I’m Sophie! I am a junior at Hamline University. My major is Digital Media Arts, and my favorite branch of Digital Media is working with sound design. I currently work at the Oracle as an assistant design editor, and am currently taking Fundamentals of Journalism with Professor David Hudson. I took this class with the intention of practicing and honing my writing skills, and learning how to write in a journalistic fashion. I celebrate Christmas with my family, and my favorite holiday tradition is when we do puzzles and watch movies together.

I’m a sophomore at Hamline University, and I’m majoring in Religion and Communications, hopefully to one day be able to put both of them to good use in a career. I currently publish a few stories now and again for the River Falls Journal, my hometown paper. In my future college career, I’ll be doing communications research projects in Thailand in 2020, and another in Israel around then as well. I took this Journalism class to be able to strengthen my writing and journalistic skills in hopes to build a future career! 

I currently practice Judaism and observe some of those holidays, but my family and I always celebrate (a more secular) Christmas because it’s a staple of American culture.


Halima Ahmed

Hi! I’m Halima Ahmed. I’m a Social Justice major at Hamline University. Within my major, I’m focusing on global issues and women’s rights. Journalism has allowed me to learn more about current events in the world while also developing critical thinking skills. I’ve tapped into the curious side of myself through taking the Fundamentals of Journalism class. I celebrate Eid and my favorite part of it is spending time with family, getting henna done, and eating good food. 🙂

Hi! I’m Emma Patterson and I’m a sophomore at Hamline University majoring in Exercise Science! I took a journalism class to broaden my experience and understanding as a writer. My family and I celebrate Thanksgiving every year at my grandparents house with lots of food and games. It’s personally one of my favorite holidays because I love the time spent with my family.
