“The Elements of Journalism” highlights the most crucial elements of writing in journalism. For our project, we focused on the elements found in chapters one and two. We chose to focus on the journalist’s obligation to the truth, and loyalty to citizens. All four of our stories represent one or both of these two elements. Our overall theme is American Holidays and our stories seek to tell the truth behind popular holidays in the United States, as well as shed light on ones that aren’t accurately represented. Our stories are opinion pieces in which we convey our research and experience with holidays while also including different perspectives.
